Road to World Series starts Wednesday in LA, Philly

Baseball Betting fans are gearing up for the opening of the 2009 MLB playoffs, which start Wednesday with the National League Divisional Series.

The NL Central-winning St. Louis Cardinals open their NLDS against the NL West-champion Los Angeles on the road (3 pm ET, TBS).

Legends MLB Betting Odds have the Cardinals as a -143 favorite and the over/under at 7.

On the mound, righthanded pitcher Chris Carpenter (2.24 ERA, 17-4) gets the start for St. Louis while Los Angeles counters with lefthander Randy Wolf (3.23 ERA, 11-7).

The other NLDS has the NL East champion Philadelphia Phillies hosting the NL Wild Card-winning Colorado Rockies Wednesday afternoon (3 pm ET, TBS).  

The Phillies are a -130 favorite to win the opener and the over/under at 8.5 at Legends Sportsbook.

Colorado will start righthander Ubaldo Jimenez (3.47 ERA, 15-12) while the Phillies will counter with lefty Cole Hamels (4.32 ERA, 10-11).

The Phillies are 8-2 SU over the past 10 meetings.

And on Thursday, AL Wild Card winner Boston Red Sox visit the Los Angeles Dodgers in the opener of their ALDS (9:35 pm ET, TBS).

The Red Sox are a -122 favorite to win the opener and the total is 8.

The Red Sox will start lefthander Jon Lester and the Angels will counter with righthander John Lackey.

The teams have split the past 10 meetings, each winning five.
