Posted 10 Nov 2009

Two struggling NFL teams collide Thursday when the Chicago Bears and the San Francisco 49ers meet at Candlestick Park (8:20 pm ET, NFLN).

The 49ers are 3-point favorites in NFL Lines at Legends.

Chicago has the upper hand straight-up over the past six meetings, going 4-2 SU, while each team has covered the spread in three of those meetings.

The teams haven’t met in three years, since the Bears clobbered the 49ers 41-10 as 16.5-point home favorites on Oct. 29, 2006.

Going back further in betting trends, Chicago is 4-1 SU in the past five meetings, but San Francisco is 5-0 SU in the past five meetings at home. Over the past 12 meetings overall,  San Francisco is 9-3 ATS.

The Bears lost their latest game, falling to 41-21 to the Arizona Cardinals as 2-point home favorites on Sunday. The score in that game went over the total of 45.

Jay Cutler passed for 369 yards with three touchdowns and an interception for Chicago, while Devin Hester caught six passes for 94 yards.

The 49ers lost their fourth straight on Sunday, getting beat 34-17 by the Tennessee Titans as a 4.5-point home favorite. The score went over the total of 41.

Alex Smith threw for 284 yards with two touchdowns and three interceptions for San Francisco and Frank Gore rushed for 82 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries.
