Top spot in AL West up for grabs
Bragging rights in the AL West will be on the line when the Oakland Athletics and Texas Rangers begin a three-game series Tuesday at Rangers Ballpark.
Texas is a -180 moneyline favorite and the over/under total is 9 in MLB Odds at Legends sportsbook.
The first-place Rangers start the series just one game up on the A’s, who head into tonight’s opener still on a high after Dallas Braden’s perfect game on Sunday.
Oakland will be looking for its third-straight win and will give the ball to righthander Trevor Cahill, who is 1-1 with a 5.40 ERA.
Cahill, making his third start in place of the injured Brett Anderson, picked up his first win of the year against the Rangers last Wednesday, when he held Texas to an unearned run over five innings.
Cahill, who entered last Wednesday’s game with an ERA of just under 11, is 4-1 lifetime versus the Rangers with a 2.05 ERA in five starts.
Texas will counter with righthander Colby Lewis, who lost last week to Cahill, giving up three runs and five hits in six innings.
Lewis, 3-1 with a 3.03 ERA, has faced the A’s seven times and is 2-1 with a 3.60 ERA.
After dropping two of three to Oakland last week, the Rangers swept the Kansas City Royals in a four-game set over the weekend.
