Angels live to fight in Game 6 of ALCS
The Los Angeles Angels staved off elimination from the MLB Playoffs on Thursday and will face the New York Yankees in Game 6 of the ALCS on Saturday at Yankee Stadium (8:05 pm ET, FOX).
New York is a -181 favorite and the total is 9 in MLB Betting Odds at Legends.
Kendry Morales’ RBI single capped a three-run comeback in the seventh inning to give the Angels a 7-6 win over the Yankees in Game 5 of the American League Championship Series in Anaheim.
The Yankees lead the best-of-seven series 3-2.
Lefthander Joe Saunders will get the start for the Angels. He’ll be up against fellow southpaw Andy Pettitte of the Yankees.
Saunders (16-7, 4.52 ERA) saw his last action in Game 2 of the ALCS last Saturday. He pitched seven innings in a 4-3 loss at Yankee Stadium.
Pettitte’s (15-8, 4.08) last action was in Game 3 on Monday, when he lasted six and one-thirds innings in a 5-4 loss in California.
There is a possibility Game 6 could be delayed, or moved to Sunday, when Game 7 (if necessary) is scheduled, as rain is in the forecast for the New York City area Saturday night.
Saunders said after Game 5 that he believes the momentum has changed sides.
“They are the favorites. But after this one we’ve got, obviously, a lot of confidence, a lot of momentum,” said Saunders. “We’re going to be ready to play. It’s going to be the usual Yankee hostile environment. It’s going to be a lot of fun. They’re going to be all over us. It’s going to be a good battle.”
The winner of the American League pennant will face the defending World Series-champion Philadelphia Phillies beginning next Wednesday.
The Yankees are vying for their 40th trip to the Fall Classic, and their first visit since falling in six games to the Florida Marlins six years ago.
