The University of California Golden Bears will take on the UC Davis Aggies to kick off the season. This should be a matchup that triggers a lot of excitement within the state of California.

In universities like this that have branches in different areas there are often debates as to what schools are better than other. This game should give bragging rights to whichever team comes out on top in this season opener.

Check out NCAAF Lines at Legends for all the matchups this weekend.

Although it sounds like a good story, there is a clear favorite entering the game. The Golden Bears are a solid, consistent football team out of the Pac-10. They are perennial contenders to make it into the top 25 and challenge for the Pac-10 title. Last season the Golden Bears managed to win 8 games on the season to go along with their 5 losses. This doesn’t sound like an amazing record, but they did show that they could keep up with top level teams.

Last season they managed to go 2-2 in their matchups against teams in the top 25. This is an excellent indicator that the Golden Bears have enough talent and discipline to stick with the best teams out there. The key for the Golden Bears will be consistency in all of their games this season.

The Aggies are a D-1AA independent team. They had a solid season last year, posting a 6-5 record. This game will be their opportunity to make a difference in their school’s outlook on football. By sneaking away a victory they could make a lot of noise. The key will be forcing turnovers.

This should be an entertaining instate matchup.

The Villanova Wildcats will square off against the Temple Owls to start the 2010 College Football season on Friday. These two teams are coming off of great seasons and look to start things off right in 2010.

Check out College Football Odds at Legends for all the latest betting lines for Week 1 matchups.

The Villanova Wildcats had a spectacular season in 2010. The Wildcats managed to win an incredible 14 games last season while only losing once. This is significant because there are tons of teams around the nation that do not even play 14 games on the season. The Wildcats managed to enter the field with confidence week in and week out last season. They hope to start things off with the same mentality in 2010.

The Temple Owls came off of a very solid season in 2010. The Owls won 9 of their 13 contests on the season. They were particularly dominant in the MAC as they went 7-1 on the season in the MAC. The big thing for the Owls in 2010 is proving that they can win games outside of their conference. While they were excellent within their conference they only managed to win 2 of their 5 games outside of the conference.

These sorts of statistics suggest that Temple may be a team that feeds on the lower level competition within their conference.

This matchup should be a good one as these teams square off. Villanova will be trying to get national attention with another big season as the Owls will try to show everyone that they can win games outside of their conference.

Rhode Island Rams and Buffalo Bulls square off in the season opener of the 2010 NCAA Football season on Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010. These teams will square off having had an entire offseason to prepare for the game that will come.

Check out NCAA Football Odds at Legends for all the latest lines for Week 1 of the 2010 College Football season.

Season opening games are always quite important. The way you start a season could start a trend that will dictate the way your team will play throughout the entire season. By starting off with a solid win your team could have a chance to gain the momentum necessary to go on a streak.

Starting off the season with a loss could be equally effective in starting a streak, but this streak would be in the wrong direction. This sort of game is huge, especially for teams like this. Neither one of these teams has really shown reason for us to consider them as major contenders. Without a reputation to carry them they will need a solid start to compete in their conference.

Last year Buffalo was 5-7 on the season. They certainly hope to improve on that record this season. They will have a good chance as they face off against Rhode Island. Rhode Island was a team that struggled badly last year. They managed to win just one game on the entire season.

Rhode Island will need a win early in the season if they hope to turn the tide around. Another poor start could be devastating and could lead them into another 1-10 season. Thursday will show us what each team is made of.

In their last meeting on Nov. 29 last season, the Titans beat the Cardinals 20-17 but fell short of cashing as a 3.5-point home favorite. The score went under the total of 44.5. Head-to-head, teams have only met three times in the past 13 years. Tennessee is 2-1 SU and 1-2 ATS in that span.

NFL Football Lines at Legends have the Titans as a 4-point, -220 moneyline favorite and the over/under total at 37.

The Cardinals got past the Houston Texans by a 19-16 score in their exhibition opener Aug. 14. Arizona cashed as a 2.5-point underdog and the score eclipsed the total of 33.5.

The Titans, meanwhile, were beaten 20-18 by the Seattle Seahawks in their preseason opener last weekend. Seattle covered the spread as a 4-point home favorite and the score went over the total of 35.

Last season, the Cardinals went 10-6 SU and 9-7 ATS and won the NFC West division title. In the postseason, Arizona beat the Green Bay Packers 51–45 in OT in the Wild Card round. But in the NFC divisional round, The Cardinals were hammered 45-14 by eventual Super Bowl XLIV champion New Orleans Saints.

Tennessee was 8-8 SU and 6-10 ATS and finished 3rd in the AFC South division last season, out of the postseason.

Football Betting fans are expecting a high-scoring affair when the Arizona Cardinals visit the New Orleans Saints for a divisional round NFL playoff matchup on Saturday (4:30 pm ET, FOX).

New Orleans is a 7-point favorite and the over/under total is the highest posted for an NFL Playoff game in years, at 57, in NFL Lines at Legends.

Over the past six meetings, both Arizona and New Orleans are 3-3 SU, while the Saints have a slight edge against the spread at 4-2 ATS.

The teams have not met in more than two years, since New Orleans beat Arizona 31-24 as a 4-point home favorite on Dec. 16, 2007. The score went over the total of 49.5.

Last Sunday, the Cardinals beat the Green Bay Packers 51-45 as a 2.5-point underdog on Wild Card weekend. The score sailed way over the over/under total of 49.

Arizona quarterback Kurt Warner had a huge game, passing for 379 yards with five touchdowns, the second time in his NFL career he’s had five TD tosses in a playoff game.

The Saints, who had a bye through Wild Card Weekend, lost to the Carolina Panthers 23-10 as a 10-point underdog in their final regular season game. The score went under the over/under total of 41.

Arizona was 10-6 SU and 9-7 ATS this season while New Orleans was 13-3 SU and 8-8 ATS.

The Cardinals are 7-2 SU in their past nine games on the road.

The annual Thanksgiving Day tradition of NFL Football action takes place Thursday with a trio of games.

It all starts with the Detroit Lions hosting NFC North rival Green Bay Packers (12:30 pm ET, FOX).

The Packers are 11-point favorites in NFL Betting at Legends.

The Packers have owned the Lions in recent matchups, going 9-1 SU and 6-4 ATS in the past 10. Green Bay shut out Detroit 26-0 in their last meeting on Oct. 18 at Lambeau Field.

Next up is the Oakland Raiders visiting the Dallas Cowboys (4:15 pm ET, CBS).

The Cowboys could be without starting quarterback Tony Romo, who has been limited in practice this week after he injured his back in Sunday’s 7-6 win over the Washington Redskins.

Romo said Tuesday he “expects” to play but if he can’t go, back up Jon Kitna would see his first action of the season.

Dallas is a 14-point favorite in NFL Odds.

Oakland and Dallas haven’t met in more than four years, since a 19-13 Raiders’ win on Oct. 2, 2009. Oakland is 3-1 SU and 2-2 ATS over the past four meetings.

And the finale has the New York Giants on the road against the Denver Broncos (8:20 pm ET, NFL Network).

New York is a 7-point favorite in NFL Lines.

The Giants and Broncos have a very limited head-to-head history. This is just the third meeting between the teams since 1998. They last squared off on Oct. 23, 2005, a 24-13 New York win as 3-point home favorites.

In their last game, the Steelers beat the previously unbeaten Minnesota Vikings 27-17 as a 6-point favorite in Week 7. The score fell under the over/under total of 46.5.
The Broncos lost their first game of the season last week, 30-7 against the Baltimore Ravens as a 4.5-point underdog in Week 8. The score fell under the over/under total of 42.5.

Kyle Orton passed for 152 yards with no touchdowns and no interceptions for Denver, while Knowshon Moreno rushed for 39 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries.

The 6th ranked Boise State Broncos visit the Tulsa Golden Hurricane in NCAA Football action Wednesday (8 pm ET, ESPN).

The Broncos are 9-point favorites in College Football Lines at Legends and the over/under is 55.

Boise State is a huge public favorite in this game, especially when you consider the ability level of Tulsa. The Hurricane, playing at home, on Wednesday Night, against a team they’ve played very well yet never beaten – that’s tempting.

Tulsa has lost just two home games in the past 2+ seasons: Oklahoma and ECU late last season. Then again, the Broncos have lost just 2 regular season games in the last 3+ seasons. But in 2003 and 2004, Tulsa beat Boise State ATS, losing by 7 and 3 respectively.

Boise State is undefeated this season, 5-0, with a big win at home against the Oregon Ducks. Tulsa has just one loss, a 45-0 drubbing at the hands of Oklahoma. Boise has started slow in both road match-ups so far this season. This is Tulsa’s second game at home.

Both teams are very efficient offensively and make few mistakes. Boise State is 7-1 ATS in their last 8 road games. Tulsa is 9-1 ATS in their last 10 home games. Something has got to give. Both teams have handled lesser competition so far this season. Tulsa is 12-2 at home over the last two seasons.

This line hasn’t changed at all despite opening at 9 and seeing 76% of the bets come in on the Boise State Broncos. Combined, these two teams are 2-8 O/U so far this season. Both have very good offenses, but underrated defenses. These two teams have helped put small college schools on the map – a close game between two tough programs wouldn’t surprise me in the least.

This week’s slate of NCAA College Football games has seen a lot of line movement. Among the big movers: Michigan and Kansas State have seen a four and three-point move in their favor on the road, while Cincinnati has moved up and over four touchdown favorites against Miami of Ohio.

The Michigan Spartans are 2-point favorites in NCAA Football Betting Odds against state and conference rivals, the Michigan Wolverines. (10/3,12:00 pm ET, ABC).

After starting undefeated, the books gave Michigan a 2-point favorite visiting the in-state rival, Spartans. My numbers say more bets came in on the Wolverines, but smart money must have been on the Spartans because the line moved fast. It’s Wednesday and the Spartans are now favored by 2, and still 61% of the public likes Michigan.

The Cincinnati Bearcats are whopping 28.5-point faves against the Miami (Ohio) Redhawks (10/3, 1:00 pm ET).

The Redhawks have had a tough start to the season, to say the least. After getting blown out by a combined 90-0 score against Kentucky and Boise State, Miami tumbled by 22 to Western Michigan and lost by 10 to Kent State. Needless to say when the 26.5 line came out, the public liked the Bearcats to cover easily. It’s moved past 4 touchdowns, but 67% still like Cincinnati.

And the Iowa State Cyclones are 3-point favorites over the Kansas State Wildcats (10/3, 3:00 pm ET).

The Wildcats started as a pick ‘em on the road facing Iowa State, but as the bettors piled on the Cyclones, the line scooted up to 3. That 3 points is pretty huge, and gives the underdog a lot more room than the books wanted. The percentage has evened out as the line moved, but 56% still like the 3-1 Cyclones.

The Sports Betting world changes dramatically tonight as the 2009 National Football League season kicks off in Pittsburgh.

The Super Bowl champion Steelers host the Tennessee Titans in the NFL season opener (8:30 pm ET, NBC).

Legends Sportsbook has the Steelers as 6-point favorites and the over/under total at 35 in NFL Betting Odds.

Last February, the Steelers won their NFL-record sixth Super Bowl title, beating the Arizona Cardinals 27-23.

The Titans were one team Pittsburgh didn’t beat last season, as Tennessee slammed the Steelers 31-14 as 3-point home underdogs on Dec. 21, the Steelers’ most-lopsided loss of the season. The victory secured the No. 1 seed in the AFC for the Titans (13-3 SU, 12-3-1 ATS last season), above the second-place Steelers (12-4 SU, 9-7 ATS).

And that fact – along with the trash-talking that accompanied the defeat – should give QB Ben Roethlisberger and his Steelers plenty of motivation tonight.

When last December’s game was pretty much out of reach, Titans’ running back LenDale White stomped all over the Steelers’ “Terrible Towel” on the sideline.

The Steelers did not get an opportunity to avenge the loss, or White’s towel stomp, as the Titans were knocked out of the postseason by the Ravens (13-10) in a Divisional Round game last Jan. 10th.

Over the past 10 head-to-head, the Titans have dominated the Steelers straight up, going 7-3 SU, but Pittsburgh has covered the spread in six of those games (6-4 ATS).

Another trend that should be of particular importance to over/under bettors is eight of the past 10 tilts have gone over the total (8-2 OU).
